Theme: The UK Today (Unit 4)

Сьогодні ми розпочинаємо новий розділ, в якому пригадаємо факти про Великобританію та дізнаємося чимало нового про цю неймовірно красиву, загадкову країну. Ми попрацюємо з новою лексикою, почитаємо текст та виконаємо декілька вправ.

1. What do you know about the UK? Look at the map and do exercise 2(a) (p. 182).

2. Write down some new words and word-combinations: to produce, to border, to be surrounded by, to be situated in, to be washed by, to consist of, located, governed, varied culture, diverse society, independent, official name, overseas territories, government, parliament, immigration, population.

3. Listen and write down the translation of these words and word-combinations. Then make up 3 sentences with some of them.

4. Do exercise 2b (p.182) filling in the gaps with the prepositions by, to, of, off.

5. Read the text (ex. 3, p.184) and say if the sentences are true or false (ex. 4, p.185).

6. Look at the England factfile (ex. 7, p.186-187) and do the quiz about the biggest part of the UK - England (ex. 6, p.186).

7. Make up 10 questions (ex.8, p.187) and be ready to answer!
